Here’s What Gets In The Way Of You Having Your Best Energy

One of the things that I see that gets in the way of you being able to be your most vital self, is overthinking and worry about the future or the past.

Being in your head in a cycle of constant thinking, puts you in a constant state of stress. We’re designed to think and then do. If there’s very little doing, you are stuck in a mental spin cycle in your head, that drains your energy.

The stress of having your mind never shut off, being constantly concerned with circumstances that you can’t control, ages you in your body and your mind because it diminishes your vitality. It’s possible to reprogram the way you think so that you don’t go into this mind-looping process that drains your energy.

Your body responds to your thoughts. When you’re constantly under the stress of never being able to relax or calm your mind, you’re in a mode of fight or flight consistently. Your body responds as if it is ready to fight or run, so it creates the tension it needs to do those actions. The blood drains from your head into your arms and legs, so you can ignite your ability to respond to the perceived threat. Your body is doing a great job at what it knows how to do, which is respond to the stress!

You can reprogram the way you think, and release that stress pattern. Instead of consuming so much energy to continue to worry or overthink, you can learn to let go in your mind so you feel lighter, and easier with more energy.

When you find yourself in worry or constant thinking that is driving you crazy here are 3 actions to take, to change your mindset and stay out of overthinking.

  1. Take 3 full breaths on purpose. Breathe in for a count of four. Breathe out for a count of six. When doing this, stop all distractions such as scrolling or being on your computer and focus on your breath. When you breathe out for longer than you breathe in, you trigger your nervous system to calm your mind. Practice this daily for best results and being able to implement it when you most need it!

  2. If you are still in a mind-loop, go out for a walk and move your eyes around. Pick a color to search for and start to find that color such as yellow, red, green (not foilage) or indigo. Moving your eyes will help you to transition your thoughts to being in the present moment so you can calm your mind.

  3. Put on a song and dance for three minutes! The movement and your favorite song will interrupt the pattern you have of thinking and help you get back to being present again. It also helps you open up your thoughts instead of staying stuck in the old ones, so new possibilities can come in for you.

These are quick ways to shift your thoughts to be in the NOW and interrupt your worry patterns. Pick one to do every day. As you practice more, you get better at being aware of what you are thinking so you can shift out of your head and be present in the moment.
